"When in America drink bourbon" - I'm sure someone said it at some point.
So I'm in New York and have been drinking Makers Mark in the bars but bought a bottle of Basil Hayden's Small Batch 8yr Old from the liquor store for when I'm in the apartment.
It's a lovely bourbon, not too much vanilla, but light and slightly spicey.
On reflection it stands up better to the being poured over the ice than the Makers Mark which didn't taste nearly as interesting when I compared the two.
